Faith is an astounding attribute. It is what causes the seed of the word of God to germinate within our heart and drives us to obey his commandments. Paul declares in Hebrews that except we believe that God is, and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him, then we cannot even come to God. Faith transcends odds and percentages for success and drives us on when hopes seems all but lost. The bible records the faith-filled witness of men and women throughout the ages (Hebrews 11th chapter). In the New Testament men and women sought out the Lord for healing when healing was beyond their reach.

There was a woman that had an issue of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her resources on physicians and was not bettered by it, in fact she grew steadily worse. However, she had faith in the Lord and was convinced that if she could but touch the hem of his clothes she would be made whole. This frail woman, despite her physical weakness, driven by faith, pressed through the throng that surrounded Jesus. Closer and closer she came to him. Finally, in a single instant she reached the goal for which she strove. She touched just the tip of his clothing, and in that instant she was healed. When the healing virtue passed from the Lord to her, he turned and told her to be of good cheer, that her faith had made her whole. What is easy to pass over in this passage of scripture (Matt 9:20-22) is that when this woman was healed, the Lord was on his way to fulfill the request of a man who had come to him believing that if the Lord would come and lay his hand on his daughter, even though she was already dead, she would live. The odds against the woman being healed of her issue of blood were pretty low; however, the odds of the man’s daughter being raise to life again were astronomical if non-existent. Regardless of the odds, they believed in the power of God to accomplish those things and did whatever it took to reach the Lord.

God wants to supply our needs, and will. He wants us first to have faith; not only that he can do things for us and through us, but also that he will do things for us and through us. He declares in Mark 9:23, “… If though canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” What will you attempt, what will you ask of the Lord if you believe that all things are possible?

God Bless and Have a Great Week!
